VERMILLION, S.D. -- The University of South Dakota has announced that it has added three new full-time positions to the athletic department staff. Chris Kassin (men’s basketball), Ryan Larsen (women’s basketball) and David Frazier (strength and conditioning) have all been hired as full-time USD staff members.

Grimsley Named to NABC All-North Central District First Team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced today that Dylan Grimsley, of The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team, has been named to the NABC Division II All-North Central District first team. It is the first time in his career that he has been honored by the NABC. One of six players on the first team, the honorees are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC.

Coyote Comeback Falls Short as USD Men Fall in First Round of NCAA Tournament to Northern State
VERMILLION, S.D. -- An amazing comeback falls short as The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team fell in the first round of the NCAA Division II North Central Region tournament to Northern State University. The Coyotes trailed by 19 at one point in the second half before rallying to retake the lead with five minutes to play. However, NSU’s Kevin Ratzsch would hit a pair of free throws with nine seconds left in the game to give the Wolves a 70-69 win.

South Dakota Makes 5th-Straight Trip to NCAA Tournament to Face Northern State
Coyotes in the NCAA Tournament
The U will be making its 13th and 5th-straight appearance to the NCAA Tournament. The Coyotes have a 17-11 record all-time in the tournament. They won the NCAA Division II title in 1957-58, defeating St. Michaels (Vt.) 75-53 to become national champions. In last season’s tournament, USD fell in the first round to Nebraska-Kearney. The last time South Dakota won a game in the NCAA Tournament was in the 2004-05 season. They defeated Nebraska-Kearney and Winona State in the first two rounds before falling to Metro State in the Sweet 16.
